Finished at last

I have now completed my honurs degree. I got a FIRST so 'well done me!' Anyway now it is time to look for a new job. That part is harder, although I have a second interview for a company in East Kilbride. I would very much like to get this job. It will depend on

  • a) whether they decide to employ me and
  • b) whether the salary is high enough.
I wouldn't complain about that but I am not 22 going into my first job. So I need something not too far removed from my current pay.

The company sounds like it would be good to work for. It already has graduates on board and as it happened actually sought me out after meeting them at a graduate fair in May 2007.

So here's hoping.

Non Hypoallergenic Rabbits

Well, now my daughter has one; she is bery sweet, the rabbit that is, and is bonding nicely. She is a true cushion biter mind you and has to be chased away from chweing the carpet and so forth. She does affect me, so not quite so hypoallergenic.

Hypoallergenic Rabbits

My daughter has formed a desire for a rabbit. She has had one before but got bored with it a little bit...she is fickle that way. Only problem is we live in a flat (that has a balcony, upon which said rabbit would have to live) which means that the rabbit would have to be in the house foruns and so forth. Not that I mind that...but as I am alergic to them, if they have long fur, we have to find a hypoallergenic lagamorph. I have told her that if we do, indeed, get one she must leave it to its own devices; let it run around and not pick it up every five minutes.
I refuse to go to a pet shop to get one though. Rabbits we have had before came from one and although they were very special, they way pet shops seem to treat rabbits now is a reason I wouldn't get one from there. I would rather go to a breeder (which I will) that looks after them properly and really cares about them. So we shall see. Keep you posted.

Blogger: Post a Comment

You know it's one thing to be spammed via email and there are filters and apps that prevent you getting hit with this shit. But to get spammed in the comments section of your blog!! That spammers can get successfully sued for millions of bucks indicates that the majority of people think they are the scum of the earth. The other fact is that I have set this blog up to accept comments from registered users only. So Blogger, get your act together!! I have another word for spammers...WANK!

Something went right!

The peg (or wahtever it's called) that holds the strap on my guitar had fallen out and I have been playing seated for ages; which is not my preference. I thought that this would cost a packet to fix and so hadn't bothered. Apart from the fact I hadn't been able to get into the city for ages and couldn't be bothered making a special trip. Anyway, I finally mnaged to get in and happened past Sound Control. I went to the tech de[artment and asked whether this could be fixed as I wasn't even sure of that. "Matchsticks" the guy said. Get some, cut the to the depth of the screw hole, the put them in one by one, screwing the peg in each time you insert a matchstick. That way the matchstick are blended to the hole and the screw. The screw will not come out after you have done this a few times as it is screwed into compressed wood. This fix works a treat and the peg is solid as it comes. At last I can get the strap on and play on my feet.

So just for a payback Sound Control.

Back again, but not quite smiling!!

Well, I am back again after a long year that started fine but didn't end that way. I finished two more courses which was OK, getting Grade 2s in both of them. That was expected for on eof them but a little disappointing for the other. Despite acing most of the course I fell slightly short on two questions and missed the Grade 1 by 3 marks. Bummer.

Getting better at guitar too. Learnt a few new things. Thinking of getting back to learning Japanese and getting back to Iaido also. This is the final year of my degree and there are 3 subjects to cope with. One I have already finished the course work for (6 months early), two are due to start in two weeks; a web design course and my final Project. The project should be fun. As I haven't yet got a clue what I am going to do with it, it certainly will be. After that I should graduate next year. Thereafter, who knows? I should disappear into the bowels of some conglomerate writing code, but I am not sure now.

Anyway, the SMG smile is about the best I can manage. It covers the Uni degree.

Bulbous, curved, pointed? No thanks

I read this in the actual newspaper and nearly pissed myself laughing at the last paragraph. Here it is...

Women like cucumbers more than men, it seems. "Males of all ages under-index compared with total vegetables," Mr Ferguson added, somewhat obscurely.

Link to whole thing...

World of Warcraft

Started playing this game. It happens online as a lot of these things do. The 3D environment is quite exciting and so far I am enjoying it. Of course, I am currently enjoying it on one month for free introduction. Maybe once I have to pay for it, it might loose its lustre. Probably not though.

The question is now... do I keep my Ultima Online account? I haven't played that for ever and there are free servers out there that allow, well, free play of the game so maybe it is time to ditch it. I am reluctant as I have spent time building up characters which would be a shame to loose. Having said that I can build up more or less the same characters in WoW. Graphically, WoW beats Ultima hands down. Have a look at the site, see what you think.
